About the Sycamore Lions
The Sycamore Lions Club is dedicated to improving the quality of life for the handicapped, the poor, the sick and the aged. Its primary focus since Helen Keller challenged the Lions to be "Knights of the Blind" has been preventing blindness, and supporting programs for visually impaired individuals. In addition to vision programs, the Sycamore Lions Club supports or sponsors a number of humanitarian, civic and charitable projects through Sycamore Lions Charities, Inc.
Projects include the Pumpkin Display and the Pumpkin Festival, Scholarships awarded to high school seniors pursuing careers in vision, hearing or medical fields, and for seniors who have demonstrated a commitment to volunteer activities and giving back to their community. Since 1948, the Sycamore Lions club has offered people in Sycamore the opportunity to give something back to their community.
Sycamore Lions members are involved in a number of projects. Some benefit the local community such as our scholarships, the Lions Pumpkin Festival Display Contest, and cleaning up the Great Western Trail. We also support efforts that are far-reaching such as our eye glass collections in a continuing effort to prevent blindness and bring sight to people around the world and donations to support humanitarian efforts in the area and around the world.
The Sycamore Lions club has always embraced programs and activities committed to building a brighter future for our community. Our programs are continually changing to meet new needs and ever greater demands, but our mission has never wavered: "We Serve".
